Diamond Jubilee cupcakes

Sometimes an event comes around that's so epic it just makes one proud to be British. A general outpouring of emotion where, for once, every last ounce of pomp and ceremony seems not just appropriate but essential. A time not just to celebrate but also to give thanks for the tireless work of an individual and their efforts and sacrifices towards a great and noble cause.

But enough about me and my blog's 1200th post anniversary - next weekend also sees the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations! A time for street parties, flag waving, processions, parties, tea and sandwiches, days off and all sorts of other things that make Great Britain, well, great. If you'd like to add 'cupcakes' to that list then you might like to know that our special Jubilee cupcakes are available to order for the bank holiday weekend via our website. Purple and cream cupcake tower

Here's a wonderful purple and cream cupcake tower we did for George in vanilla, chocolate and salted caramel with a sugarpaste topcake. We set everything up for the happy couple at the lovely Beaumont Estate, complete with a selection of lilies, roses and some fairy lights for good measure.

Win a cake!

Guess what - it's competition time! This month to celebrate the launch of our new big cakes we're offering up a sweet, sweet 8" cake in any flavour you choose! What's more we'll deliver anywhere in our standard London area (or you can collect from us). To enter all you have to do is guess how many organic free-range eggs we used to make the 10,000 cupcake Cherry Tree mosaic last month. Competition winner - April!

Thanks to everyone who entered last month's competition to win a cupcake decorating class for two, we had lots of guesses as to how many different types of sprinkles we have, and of course everyone was a winner in a way, as if you scanned your competition entry email carefully you'd have found a special code offering 20% off any class booking (*cough* april_comp139 *cough*). Ahem, sorry - just clearing my throat. Anyway, in another way Rose is the biggest winner, having correctly guessed that there were 256 different sprinkles in my stash at the time of writing. Well done Rose - the guys will be in touch so you can select the cupcake class of your dreams (well, the one you'd like anyway) for you and a pal.

West End Eurovision cupcakes

Here's some boxes of colourful cupcakes for this year's West End Eurovision, the annual West End extravaganza that sees the casts of London's top shows take on Eurovision hits of years gone by. "Colourful, fun, and fabulously camp" was the brief (can an extravaganza be anything else?), and the guys certainly took it to heart...

Navajo cupcakes @ Cake International

Here's something a bit different... A few pics of our entry for the cupcake class in this year's Cake International show at ExCel London. My old pal Jemma created these Navajo-inspired cupcakes which not only feature some pretty cool sugarcraft, hand-painting and piped icing but also come in a smokey Lapsang and Maple flavour, redolent (she says) of cool nights around smokey fires on Dinetah mountain. That all sounded a bit far fetched to me, but in fact they turned out delicious.

Cake International is on from today until Sunday afternoon, with a whole host of great cake artists and cake supply companies exhibiting. If you don't yet have tickets I'd strongly recommend a visit - you can buy on the door and the competition cakes in particular are truly spectacular. I snapped a few pics of some of the entries - unfortunately the stands don't show who made each one but if your work appears drop us a line in the comments below as we'd love to add a credit.

Well this is a bit embarrassing... I could have sworn I put some pics of these little guys up but now I can't find them anywhere. Hi all. Sorry for the lack of posting this week - we're working on a very exciting cupcake project with our friends from Japan...
